Whiskey (or whisky) is a distilled alcoholic beverage, made from fermented grains such as barley, corn, rye or wheat and aged in wooden barrels. It ranges from pale gold to dark amber in color and it has a minimum of 40% alcohol by volume. Common types include Bourbon, Scotch, Irish and Rye whiskey.
