Rosé

(row-zay)
DEFINITION

Rosé

Rosé is a type of wine made from red grapes that gains its signature pink color through brief contact with the grape skins. It is created via short maceration or the saignée method, with colors rnging from pale onion skin to bright ruby. Rosé combines the crispness of white wine with the red fruit flavors of red wine, featuring notes of red fruit, flowers, citrus and melon. Almost any red wine grape can be used, including Pinot Noir, Syrah, Grenache and Cinsault.

Did you know? In the 1970s, a winemaker accidentally created white Zinfandel (a off dry rosé), popularizing the drink in the US.
