DEFINITION

Americano Cocktail

The Americano Cocktail is a classic Italian aperitif made with sweet vermouth, Campari and soda water. It is a refreshing, bittersweet and bubbly drink that was created in the 1860s by Gaspare Campari at his bar Caffè Campari. The Americano is considered the father of Negroni. Originally known as “Milano-Torino”, it was renamed “Americano” due to its popularity among American tourists.

Did you know? A variation of the Americano is the "Americano Sbagliato", which substitutes soda water with sparkling wine (such as Prosecco).
