Sangria
Sangria
Sangria takes its name from the Spanish word sangre (blood) and is a popular Spanish wine based punch, typically made from red wine, chopped fruit, sweeteners and sometimes brandy or sparkling water. It is fruity, sweet and aromatic, with an alcohol content that usually falls between 4.5% and 12% ABV. Under EU regulations, only Spain and Portugal are permitted to use the Sangria label. Traditionally it is made using Spanish red wine varieties such as Tempranillo or Garnacha. Recipes varies considerably from region to region.
