(ka-buh-nay frangk)
DEFINITION

Cabernet Franc

Cabernet Franc is a light to medium bodied red wine grape with high acidity, moderate tannins and an aromatic profile. It is the parent grape to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and it often used for both Bordeaux blends and single varietal wines. Cabernet Franc displays distinct red fruit notes, mixed with herbs and spice.

Did you know? Cabernet Franc contains high levels of methoxypyrazines, a compound responsible for its "bell pepper" aromas.
